The walk to Gocta waterfall

Choose your Gocta starting point first: Cocachimba or San Pablo. They lead to different parts of the waterfall.

What to expect

A photo shows the waterfall, not your walk there and back. Gocta has two drops. The official inventory links Cocachimba with the second and San Pablo with the first. When arranging transport, specify more than Gocta: choose the walk and where you will be collected afterwards.

How it fits into a journey

Make a separate outing from Chachapoyas. If you prefer staying near a trailhead, add a night rather than trying to visit Kuélap on the same day.

Practical answers

Cocachimba or San Pablo?

Choose Cocachimba for the described route to the second drop, San Pablo for the first. For a combined route, agree the return and pickup point too.

Is a quoted walking distance for the return journey?

Not necessarily. Ask whether distance and walking time are one way or there and back; that can substantially change your day plan.
