Five days on the northern coast: mangroves and Máncora

Start with two nights around Tumbes, then settle by the sea. One nature outing and time without a full programme.

What to expect

Day 1: fly from Lima to Tumbes and stay there. Day 2: visit the mangroves from the agreed departure point, then sleep around Tumbes again. Day 3: travel by road to your Máncora accommodation and leave the afternoon open. Day 4: a beach walk or a surf lesson suited to conditions. Day 5: another day without changing hotels, perhaps with one outing to a neighbouring beach.

How it fits into a journey

This short route can follow a longer Peru journey. With only three days, choose one beach base or Tumbes with the mangroves instead of rushing the same plan.

Practical answers

Do I need activities booked for all five days?

No. Arrange the flight, stays, transfer and desired mangrove visit. The beach days can remain simply beach days.

Can families change the order?

Yes. Keep arrival separate from the nature outing and avoid a long transfer after a full excursion. Let actual departure options determine which days you spend around Tumbes.

Route step by step
