What to expect
After inland Moquegua, the setting changes. Ilo is a port city: start along the waterfront and look for Glorieta José Gálvez and Muelle Fiscal. This need not become a full beach holiday. A walk and time to eat may be exactly enough.
How it fits into a journey
Allow one night as a stopover. Add time if you also want a beach day rather than squeezing it between arrival and the next bus.
